That's neat!
I generally use the Word Symbol dialog (Insert | Symbol). You can
click on a symbol (at least in the Office 2003 version) and it will
display the Shortcut key, or you can press a key combination and it
will highlight the corresponding symbol as well as giving the
Character code.
