I don't know if it is the answer that you are looking Ajay, but when I
was in high school our statistic professor teached the same material
to two classes. One was showned APL to resolved the problems and the
other not. At the end of the year the class that was using APL was
showing better grades than the other class. He was using that result
to promote APL to the school management and get financing to continue
in that direction. Even if the class that had to learn APL and the
statistics had more homework they got a better results at the end...
pretty interesting to me.

It was the computer department of the high school that did not like
APL for some mysterious reason. We were thinking at that time that
they were afraid to loose their jobs because APL was so powerfull and
easy to learn. Something to remember when promoting APL to a school
with a computer department may be ? One has to think of the political
aspect of APL.

During the OOPSLA conference of Montreal in 2007, the representative
of Dyalog gave a conference to a young audience of programmers and
throw everything at them to impress them about Dyalog APL. The answer
from the audience, according to him, was not very interested to my
surprise. I have always wonder what would have been the answer from
that audience if APL2000 had presented VisualAPL to them on the Visual
Studio platform. If you cannot catch the attention of the young
programmers with your APL product and it's only a bunch of guys with
gray hair that are your customers, I would be very scary if I was a
shareholder of that compagny.

Food for thought,

Regards,

Pierre Gilbert
