I'm please to see these two responses because the thread looked like the 
worst marketing message ever - coming down to "if you use APL here's a 
list of other stuff you need to know as well" - to which a reasonable 
response might be "if I have to use all that other stuff I might as well 
not bother with APL".

When I was about 15 (and of dubious political orientation) I read a book 
on military propaganda - the thing that's stayed in my mind was that the 
first principle of successful propaganda is "never acknowledge what the 
other person is saying about you".

Don't see a lot of difference between propaganda and marketing.

We need to present a more positive public message - cut out the "this is 
what's wrong with APL" and concentrate on "APL will help you 
because...".  As I said before, there's a good message in Jerry Turner's 
book title "APL Is Easy!" (and the answer to that is not "APL Is 
Difficult And Not For The Likes Of You!" - which is what this newsgroup 
says).
