Dave, you are right. While I remembered that the issue was to do with
leap years & 1900, my statement is misleading.

Excel does not have data types, only means of formatting integers as
dates; also, I THINK its reference date (integer 1) is 31/12/1899 (? I
am not sure). Therefore data arithmetic are bound to be 'difficult'
especially when involving dates earlier than the reference date.
