BCS

by acam@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Apr 16, 2008 at 05:15 AM

I think the best we can do is to secede from the BCS. If we stay a SIG
we will lose a large number of our members (including me). I think
that would destroy the BAA.

I therefore think we have to negotiate with the BCS some terms by
which we don't lose everything we have built up so far. Since I think
they have the money and apparently a legal right to it we are on very
weak ground, but they surely don't want us to part as bitter enemies
I therefore think we should negotiate in the hope that we can convert
from being a wholly owned SIG to being an independent affiliate.

If the alternative that the BCS sees is that the BAA is, in effect,
destroyed by their actions (possibly with adverse publicity), it may
be that they would accept a settlement that allowed us to escape with
some part of our money (start negotiating for two thirds?).

I have a very low opinion of the BCS. Once I was member no 2427 but I
resigned because they did none of the things I thought they should.
Now I would not accept even a free membership. If they do dissolve the
BAA I shall start to (try to) charge them for the storage of Vector
back issues and other BAA stuff I hold. It's not *my* property!
