Morten, I find this statement particularly appropriate, as I myself am
coming to grips with
what I like (not a lot) and not like (lots) about VS.

Generally, in many ways, I find returning to VS like returning to the
stone age, er, the days of Fortran.  Although the interface is slick
and appealing, I find that it's still a very tough slog to get
something rather simple to work.  The fact that the editor provides
not only syntax colouring but "intellisense", plus instant syntax
checking, is nice, but there is no hiding from the fact that this is
really an interface to a compiler and that any interactive debugging
as we know it from APL is long gone.  VS tries to polish up the
miserable language underneath, C# or VB or whatever.  It does a good
job.

Having said that, I think that VS excels at what it was designed to do
- gui composition and single user code management.
