I'm not sure which APL system(s) you are referring to. As far as
Dyalog is concerned, you have access to the same fancy ActiveX
and .Net "custom controls" that users of any language can use. Those
of our customers who spend effort on designing GUI well have state-of-
the art applications which are indistinguishable from anything else
out there. It IS true that APL developers in general tend to focus
more on content that wrapping, and that many APL applications look a
bit rough, but that has little to do with the capabilities of the
interpreter.

We don't do Java, simply because the VAST majority of our customers
are more interested in the Windows platform. We don't have anything
against the platform, it is simply a matter of priorities. We might
well support Java in the future. The Microsoft.Net platform does have
one big advantage, which is that it is "Language Agnostic". Java is a
single-language platform and I think this makes it significantly less
attractive as a framework.

I was not aware that people considered Java to be ahead of Windows in
terms of "look and feel" of the applications.
