What's for? Why do you think it will help in the simulation case?

I've been in the simulation area. I've seen code in C++ where there is 
no such check... and I've found things like that:

    for (int k=0; k<MAX_VAL; k=k+0.1) { }

No kidding, this IS real code found in a real .cxx file in an im****tant 
simulation!

Nice way of mixing integer and floating point. If you are looking for a 
language that seem attractive just to have the joy to play with a 
debugger then do not count on my vote.

Again we do not want to change things that are helping developers using 
Ada today. As many have expressed here, the string typing is a strength 
of Ada. We have seen zero convincing arguments to break this!
