x86 80 bit reals

by miken@[EMAIL PROTECTED] May 29, 2005 at 09:47 AM

Hello everyone. I have been using CW4 for Windows for a number of
years. I just discovered that CW4 does *not* support any extended
precision real numbers. This is also the case for CW5, but the latest
version does, through the use of the ten_byte_long_double pragma.

So I have these questions:

1. Which version of CW started support of 80 bit floating point?

2. How can one procure a copy of this release? Things are very muddy
now that Metrowerks/Freescale has discontinued CW for Windows. Can the
latest version be purchased from Nokia?

3. Is there anything I should know about 80 bit floating point and CW?
Does everything work smoothly or are there some pitfalls I should be
aware of.

Thanks for your help,

Mike Naughton
