Getting Started

by =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Martin_G=E4ckler?= <martin@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Dec 5, 2006 at 12:16 AM

Hello,

I'm trying to start developing for Symbian OS. Until now, I wasn't even
able to compile and run the hello word example.

I have downloaded the 3rd edition FP1 of the S60 Platform SDKs for
Symbian OS, for C++ from Nokias Website.

I have downloaded and installed Active Perl as required by the
installation manual.

I have installed the SDK and CSL Arm Toolchain.

Then I have tested the installation as described in the installation
manual:

cd \Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1_2\S60Ex\HelloWorldBasic\group
bldmake bldfiles
abld build winscw udeb

Then I should run epoc and start the new application. But there is no
hello world application.

I have found out, that build is a shortcut for several commands:

export, makefile, library, resource, target and final

So i have tried to run each command individually:

abld export

worked fine: result was nothing to do, Yeah no error. But the next
command gave me an error message that i do not understand:

abld makefile winscw
Error: Unable to identify a valid CodeWarior for Symbian OS installation

What else can I do? Is there something missing?

Thanks in advance

Martin
