I am in the begining phases of writing an app for Symbian OS ... my

The app utilizes the phones builtin camera. Does anyone know:
If I write the app for phone "A" will it work on phone "B" and "C"? Is
there a standard API or does each vendor (Samsung, Nokia, etc.) create
their own API/OS versions??
