[CW 2.8] Import mmp, CPP.EXE not found in path, expected in \GCC\BIN\

Hei,
after a reboot(once a month ;-)) of my pc,
CW has a problem importing a mmp file.
CW aborts with the following message:

but the required CPP.EXE was expected to be found in a directory
with a name ending in \GCC\BIN\, where the Cygnus tools
this program depends upon are stored.
Is your path set up correctly?

Before the message window appears I selected a proper "_CW" sdk.
So why CW does not search for the cpp.exe
in the selected sdk root path?

I'm using "devices.exe", so I've no EPOCROOT set.
My path points to "C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\Symbian\Tools\".

(Renaming or moving the cpp.exe to a new subdirectory \GCC\BIN\
 leads to "ERROR: CPP executable not found in path".)
