Does CW for Palm 6.0 run well under XP?

I am an experienced embedded systems programmer (C/C++/VxWorks/PPC/VME)
looking to expand my skills to include programming for the Palm.  I'm
hoping to get an inexpensive copy of CW for Palm (since the $$$ will
be coming out of my own unemployed pocket) and at the moment the best
deal I have found is someone selling new copies of CW for Palm 6.0 (CD
only) for $35.

My main question is:  Can I hope that something as old as 6.0 will run
smoothly under XP Pro?

A secondary question would be:  Is 6.0 a good version for a Palm novice
to start with, or will I find it sufficiently impenetrable that I might
end up wi****ng I'd paid more for a newer version?
