Some machines reserve more upper memory than others (e.g. newer ones
with ACPI?). So, you have to be more explicit in telling JEMMEX what
UMBs to use or ignore. From the README.TXT:

     X=A000-FFFF NOHI NOVME NOINVLPG

     This is the safest combination. If this doesn't work, Jemm most
     likely isn't compatible with the current DOS/BIOS.

Anyways, if you really need EMM386 and JEMMEX doesn't work, you can
always try the (older) FreeDOS EMM386 (on which JEMMEX is based,
actually), it may in some rare cases work better:
