I know what you mean.
I use and write DOS applications in DOS windows on Windows-installed
systems.
But having a fire-wall protects me from all that could happen if I
still had a DOS-boot system, which is possibly your best alternative.
I didn't like the idea you would expose your computer to automatic
logins to BBS systems and e-mail packages; the fact that your email
was accepted indicates your address is a valid one to a spammer or
hacker.
