***   It is my opinion that one should have the shortest path possible. My
systems have two directories in the path: DOS and BATCH. Everything is
started or dealt with via batch files.

   That aside, if all your directories are on the same drive, eliminate
all the "C:"s. That may free enough characters to add the directory you
desire. 

   If you don't change the path while computing, place the path
statement into CONFIG.sys. I forget the limit, but it is longer there.

   Finally, check out XSET. It has a method to increase the available DOS
path limit.
