Much as I have always been a Borland advocate, I don't think they
really care about MS' reaction. If you look over their history, they
have always shown a 'money first, user second' view - something that
Microsoft has gone to extreme lengths to prove otherwise (yes we all
know Ms is evil, blah blah - read on).
Case in point - Sup****t for software. Go ahead and look up any problem
with any MS software - new or old - online. From MSDNOnline (FREE I
might add) to the Microsoft-engineer sup****ted Knowledge Base, no
special access is required to get to the nib of the problem.
Borland expect users to pay them just to be informed of the problem -
then you have to have special Maintennance Contracts, etc just to get a
re****t on the problem, or find out why X happens.
It is so bad that the community has banded together, and provide
sup****t through the BDN - and it is nothing that Borland supplies this,
in fact it's a big cost saver I'm sure.
In the end, I use Delphi in spite of Borland's treatment of the
Developer community - I think if anyone, I would want whoever buys it
to learn from Borlands mistakes. Coz they could have been a contender
in this market..
