XBasic p***** that test with flying colours - not only are the program 
development environment, the editor and the libraries are written in 
XBasic itself, but so is the compiler. Only the startup code needed to 
interface with the OS, and some critical system libraries are written in 
assembler. Naturally, XB can compile itself. How did XB bootstrap itself 
  into existence? The first XB compiler for Windows was written in 
Quickbasic, which is also BASIC.
