It's certainly possible - I started with QuickBASIC and at one time or
another after that attained some profeciency in C, C++, FORTH, X86
Assembly, a couple of flavors of PIC assembly, WinBatch, JavaScript,
PHP, and several flavors of awk, (awk, nawk, mawk, tawk, gawk) as well as
several flavors of DOS/Windows batch and somewhat less bash shell
scripting.  I gave up on Lisp and Perl - no pressing need, insufficent
time, and failing interest.

Subroutines are mot accessed with GOTO, they are simply called or invoked
like any other function.  Subroutines in any language must return and so
must be called.

GOTO is made unnecessary by structures such as while, for, do, CASE
and called functions. Some languages have a means of breaking out of loops
when a solution has been found - that's vaguely like a goto, but for
situations like that, it's not uncommon to use a while or for with a
compound condition (the limiting condition and a flag must both be false -
the flag is set if the loop is not completed but is no longer needed).
