Hello.
I have searched the archives of this list (at Google Groups) and have
not found any announcement, but there is a relatively new open-source
BASIC compiler, written by Andre Victor, called FreeBASIC
(http://www.freebasic.net/).
It is cross-platform (currently runs on
and compiles for Win32, 32-bit DOS/DJGPP, and x86 Linux), very
compatible with QB syntax, and even has a QB graphics functions
compatability library. It also improves on QB in a number of areas,
with new features and much-improved code generation. If you are
looking for a free, open-source, compatible, and well-supported BASIC
compiler, then FreeBASIC is probably for you.
Thank you for your time,
-- Daniel Verkamp (FreeBASIC DOS maintainer)
