I have used it for sockets and it works very well.  I have used CC and
DLL.

BCET will have sockets as well and fits the budget a little better for 
smaller tasks, as it is being enhanced daily.  You can find BCET at 
www.arargh.com/basic/index.html it is a QBASIC to ASM translator, but 
the instructions are they to get it running..
