Re: Fast way of splitting an image into bit planes ? (Skybuck's Classic Lossless Video Codec implemented)

by "Skybuck Flying" <BloodyShame@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 30, 2008 at 05:20 PM

The vert, horz, frame idea's have been implemented.

My mortal kombat video is uncompressed 1.95 GB.

My lossless video codec compresses it to 434 MB.

Another lossless video codec (huffyuv 2.1.1) compresses it to only 1.09
GB.

So my video codec already better than that one, such joy :)

I am doing just basic compression, I might be able to pull more
compression
methods out of my hat ;)

(Actually, I call this "classic" compression)

And possibly further refinements, however to achieve that I need to work
hard on good variable bit manipulations but I am understanding those
tricks
better and better each day.

I also tried re-compressing a battlestar galatica video from a lossy video

codec. My video ofcourse became much larger. It was roughly able to encode

one minute of video before reaching the same size.

I am having doubts if I should embed a Skybuck Logo in my free video codec

and then made a payed for version.

Yeah I think that's probably smart.

People that really are doing lot's of lossless re-compression and such and

that want to use my video codec must pay for having the logo removed...
and
then they could get extra options as well... like specify maybe keyframe
interval... and maybe special processing options... like split to bit
planes, maybe even color ****fts. So then my codec would become a little
video tool as well.

But nothing too complex... this will require adding extra code as well...
so
this just idea's I am not sure if I am gonna do the extra options...

Maybe just a special version/dll for doing such things yeah that could be
cool.

Playback must ofcourse remain lightning fast.... and compression in
principle too... but for the special version maybe a little bit slower is
acceptable.

Now all I need is a nice Skybuck Video Logo :)

And then it's onward with more compression techniques ;)

It was fun writing this codec, the code is beautifull too ;) :)

Yeah, maybe later I try to read up on other compression techniques... like

displacements or so, I hope I can find some nice docs... I seen some of
them
once or twice or so.

Or maybe I just have to think about it myself and again roll my own LOL ;)

Not likely though but who knows ;)

Even in this Mortal Kombat video lot's of material is moving and such.

I am just itching to compress those moveable parts even smarter but ok.

I need movement detection or something like that for that ;)

So far on the lossless video codec front LOL ;)

My comparisions have to be done with other lossless video codecs.

I have a feeling mine will compete pretty good with those suckers LOL ;)
:)

Bye,
  Skybuck.
