Would you believe a couple of asprin?  That's going to be one heck of a 
headache.

Word creates a lot of bloat when documents are saved as HTML.  You can use

HTML-Tidy to clean some of it up, but there is still going to be a lot of 
trash laying about to be cleared up by hand.
