If the length of the string being copied exceeds the size sent as
input to strncpy, the destination string is not terminated by a null
character.

strtok is not thread-safe.

Am sure there are other gotchas that the gurus will enlighten us with.

The point of Richard's statement is not so much that people tend to
use something else, but there are aspects to their use that can bite
you if you are not careful.
