Priests are generally fine, decent, human beings while mere preaching is
their only outlet, but as soon as they get any, even a sliver of, *real*
power they go absolutely nuts! Even running an orphanage or the church
choir
seem to set their true instincts off ;-)

Disagree.
The problem, I.M.O., is that those downtrodden individals happen to be the
majority - and that we keep sending money and millitary aid to the
brainwashers and downtrodders to keep them in power for the Ahl'Bidness!
The more Oil a muslim country has, the nastier it generally becomes over
time. Because, the only job the government really has to do is to keep the
oil flowing. Whatever atrocity the rulers should indulge in doesn't matter
to the governments survival - as long as the oil flows uninterrupted
through
western pipelines. By our "stabilising presence" in the middle east we
have
shortcircuited the natural evolution either of sane people and beneign
government or perpetually low net population growth (in which case there
would not be a problem either).
