Here is some more information:

When madexcept's ability to catch ide exception is turned off in tools
then 
the following error is displayed:

System Error. Code: 1400.
Invalid window handle.

(Leaving madexcept on is probably more dangerous, I think the IDE could
then 
hang and crash...)
