And the original claim (that Microsoft didn't work on Applescript [for
Office apps]) is simply false. There are some major glitches (with
regard to Collections in the Microsoft object model, and with rows &
columns (vs. ranges) in Excel), but the apps are definitely _now_
(Office 2004) scriptable in AppleScript, and there is some hope that
at least some of the glitches may be worked out for Office 2008.

Applescripting Office apps, which may be downloaded here:
