Not possible on 10.3.9 - Two options available via System 
Preferences/Software Update, "Update software" tab: 
A checkbox for "Check for updates (pulldown - Daily, Weekly, Monthly)" 
and a checkbox for "download im****tant updates in the background". Plus 
a "check now" button, and a re****t of when the last check was run and 
what the success/fail status of that check was.

Other tab is "Installed Updates", which simply lists what's currently 
installed, with no changeable options, and a button to open the list as 
a log file.
